Attempts to make a miracle of the shroud are disgraceful. It is old and has been through its traumas as in fire etc so naturally we are going to have a lot of guesses about it and it is a reasonably clever fake relic. Not knowing does not justify saying that whatever we are puzzled at is a miracle. There are errors. The view that Jesus' remains lay in it cannot be sustained. The blood is picturelike and should be messy and smeared. It is too tidy. The hair hangs down as if the man depicted in standing up! There is no clear evidence that the shroud existed more than 900 years ago. The gospel of John has the body being doused in loads of spices and oils and that should have stopped a good print of Jesus from forming.
