If one has a power to detect hidden, even top secret information, why do they have to be the middle person? Power is power. If one has a way of controlling hidden forces to get information why can't they send it to others in dreams? Why can't they send divinatory power to a client to do it herself or himself? No the client comes to them and it costs a lot per session. There is often an emotional price to be paid too.
I would add that many clergy and religious instead of praying remotely for a person who asks for prayer, instead has them coming to their religious centre or whatever and leaving a donation. They often say it is because they like to advise in person. So praying for a person then does not give the person the answers!
Christians worry that psychics are competition. But they will say it is not that but that demons are using people who claim paranormal abilities to lure others away from God and direct them to supernatural enemies in the form of Satan and his minions.
Satan and his demons are supposed to want others, specifically humans, to die and go to Hell forever to be damned with them.
What benefit would they get from that? Hell is supposed to be eternal loss.
The Christian answer that it is envy is very thin. The Book of Wisdom says that the Devil’s envy of man brought death and evil into the world. If demons don’t have bodies, what would they have to be envious for? Money? The houses? Envy is the plight of material beings.
Nobody asks the demons why. I thought we are banned from judgemental assumptions about others!
Anyway back to the diviners and the psychics.
Researchers say that even the seemingly best of them have no special abilities. We forget in a complicated world with so many people that rare remarkable coincidences happen more than we realise. Rare is subjective. So they will seem to be getting information from some other level of reality.
Christian believers may say that that the demons work with nature so the
information though it can be explained by guessing, is still coming from them.
Demons are supposedly very stupid. The implication is that the psychics and
those who go to them are no better, at least when it comes to the paranormal.
Too many of the claims and warnings offered by psychics are false. The
Christians must think that the demons hope to have people feeling unsafe and
even getting upset. They are confident that they are foolish and desperate
enough to keep coming back to the psychics for more.
My last thought is that for anyone to say that demons are using psychics to trick the foolish is a very big claim. It is a bigger one than saying they are all wasting their own time and have no real powers. The believer in demons has a heavier burden of proof than the sceptic. Yet they will join the paranormal fans and call the sceptic narrow!
