MARK REVEALS THE EVIDENCE FOR JESUS' MIRACLES HAS BAR SET TOO LOW

Mark’s gospel says women found the tomb empty on Sunday morning. Men in white, whether they were angels from Heaven or humans assigned as angels on earth, were present. They directed the women to gaze at the empty spot where Jesus was. They said that Jesus was not there but had risen from the dead. They then dismissed the women to deliver a message to the apostles to go to Galilee to meet Jesus.

Curiously they could not teleport and tell the apostles themselves.

The women were to take the messenger’s word for it and tell the apostles that Jesus was alive. The implication was that the apostles should take this seriously, so seriously that they should go to Galilee and meet him. The apostles, we can be sure, were not going to go to Galilee to see Jesus unless they were already predisposed to think he was alive. [If Matthew is to be believed: that the apostles would have been suspects legally for supposedly stealing the body, then they were strangely prepared to be arrested or slain by leaving their lair. They must have been very convinced by hearsay!].

Jesus could certainly have risen from the dead and sent word that people must believe without anybody seeing him anyway. Not only that, but the story actually testified that that was the case too.

I would add that in the rush among apologists to argue that the women were solid witnesses, people who don’t even get the names of persons they find at the tomb are not witnesses but gossips.

If that was the case with the resurrection of Jesus, imagine what it must have been like with his other alleged miracle performances.
