Humans like to tell stories about "lone geniuses"
who invent things out of thin air. In reality, human nature acts much more
like a glorified copy-paste mechanism that occasionally makes a lucky mistake.
We are exceptionally good at absorbing what already exists, noticing
accidental patterns, and tweaking them slightly. Does that indicate that a
person saying they met the risen Jesus may be telling the truth? No – just
because the story is presented in “He really died and rose by the power of
God” kind of way does not mean that the speaker strongly sees it that way. In
reality, it is like “He seemed to die and he came back. People do – I will
make a special case out of his.” That reflects how we see things – how we
absorb from a world of luck and also predictability.
