Impersonal cosmism is worth considering.
Why is there something rather
than nothing?
Rather than say there is no reason, one may settle for
holding non-material energy may be the answer.
This ground of being or
a foundational energy does not require, logically or otherwise, consciousness,
intent, or intelligence to function as the source of existence.
There
could be forms of consciousness, intent or intelligence so different from how
we see them. Perhaps our words for them and ideas of them are useless.
But we do not need them at all. The force may be just a blind source. It
does not need to be alive in any sense - real or analogical sense.
Here
is how this perspective aligns with established philosophical and scientific
frameworks:
The Scientific Parallel:
In modern physics, we often look to the quantum vacuum or fundamental
fields (like the Higgs field) as the underlying fabric of reality. These
fields fluctuate and give rise to particles, matter, and eventually the
universe. This energy is creative and foundational, but it is entirely
non-conscious and operates purely on physical laws.
Philosophical
Neutral Monism:
This is the view that the ultimate reality is made of one underlying
"stuff" that is neither inherently mental nor inherently physical. It is just
a neutral, raw source or energy from which both physical matter and conscious
minds eventually emerge.
Eastern Philosophy (The Tao):
In Daoism, the Tao (The Way) is the ultimate, indescribable source of everything. It is often described not as a conscious, thinking deity, but as a nameless, effortless flow or principle that generates the universe naturally, much like water flowing downhill.
By viewing the ground of being as a blind, neutral, or non-conscious source, you bypass the "problem of evil" and the need for divine teleology (the idea that everything happens for a pre-planned reason). The universe simply is, arising naturally out of a foundational energetic reality.
Also, God belief tries in vain to show that God and morality would be
inherently married. It defeats itself. God cannot come first or
matter that much.
