Luke 22:43-44 is
controversial. It has Jesus having a vision of an angel and suffering terribly
and even sweating blood at the thought of being crucified. Respected ancient
manuscripts leave the verses out.
It seems that Luke shows Jesus as
resigned to his crucifixion. This is thought to indicate those verses are
fake.
It is very serious if a gospel interference is saying an
apparition happened. Jesus himself allegedly appeared after he died.
It is surmised that the verses were created to address the claims by
heretics that Jesus was not a real man but a vision that could not suffer.
