GOD IN MORAL TERMS IS QUITE USELESS

Morality is the system of principles, rules, and values that guide human behavior in distinguishing right from wrong. Morality is studied in three parts.

Part one is descriptive morality—it is about what people believe to be moral. It describes moral behavior, or behavior that aims to be moral.

Part two is normative or prescriptive morals—it asks whether people have the right morals and warns that good intentions are not enough.

Part three is meta-ethics, which seeks to use God and other ideas to explain what “ought” or moral right actually means. Conversely, it also explains what “ought not” and moral wrong, or sin, mean. It is philosophical and involves careful reasoning about definitions. It is absolutely certain that meta-ethics only gets a disservice from the God theory.

God, as a being of spirit, would be very unlike us, and his values would not be values in any feeling or emotional sense.

Christianity holds that you need God to ground morality. In other words, God is just, generous, good, and loving—and firmly so—and as we are in his image, we should be like that too. We are obligated to be.

The image of God doctrine depends heavily on prayer—we are beings who are supposedly meant to be connected with God, the essence of prayer. In prayer, the image is upheld and accepted.

These ideas create a disconnect with society, medical, and state ethics. Many religionists themselves do not correctly link their God and their ethics. Do you really want to live in a world where in principle the chief good work is praying?

They break with morality. How? It becomes redefined as:

"Morality is the system of principles, rules, and values that guide human behavior in distinguishing right from wrong, only in relation to what God wills. In him we live and move and have our being."

If we have free will then if God should strip us of it in order to stop us from going too far, perhaps from destroying each other, then what? That is said to be advocating a grave evil. So it is more evil to take it from us even for a while to stop us than to let us kill each other! This shows the absurdity of calling God useful morally. Christianity cannot get the argument, "God has given us free will as a gift" beyond the status of a mere opinion. Opinion is no basis for trust or faith or religion. It goes too far.

Kant and Feuerbach talked about religion and faith in God as fetishism. This is a mental trick where you think you have put the powers in you outside of you and they reside in a God. It is bad for it leads to you failing to see the virtue in yourself - and by extension others. You end up alienated from your good side and from your true self. This is true. All incoherence regarding evil and God shows the religious mindset is indeed a fetish.

The futility of the person depending on God and the futility of the idea of God have been shown. Do not be lied to.

APPENDIX: CALLING SOMETHING EVIL CALLS ON OTHERS DO TO DO EVIL AGAINST IT

Suppose you are accused of doing evil.

Anyone calling this evil will note that those who oppose your it will probably use evil means to try and stop it.

For example, if you are killing women on the street - some will resolve to murder you.

Why do people fight fire with fire?

It is basically about making you see that you need to remove and correct the evil in yourself. You see the ugliness of the evil that hunts you down. That should turn you off your own evil. It should make you see that evil leads to one evil person harming another evil person for they don't like the evil in them. It is known that you cannot deter people from evil except by exposing the ugliness and futility of the evil.

We will say then that love the sinner and hate the sin is impractical. Once we call what you do evil we are calling on evil to be done against you to stop you. We are not against evil at all. We only cherry-pick what evil we like and what evil we do not like.

God belief by attempting to consolidate good by default consolidating evil. That is dangerous for our eyes are drawn to the consolidating of good - we need to avert our eyes from half-truth.

APPENDIX: DUTY OF HUMILITY BEFORE GOD? IT CALLS ATHEISTS IMMORAL

Pride is often regarded as a root cause of harmful behavior, while humility is considered a key virtue. Some might ask, however, whether love is not the highest virtue. In Christian thought, God commands love for others, but does not explicitly command self-love, which is assumed to exist naturally. Humility, in this context, involves focusing on the wellbeing of others while also taking care of oneself in that process. There is no inherent contradiction here. Humility is also about seeing one's utter dependence on God. Christian teaching is that humility before God and others are an inseparable whole.

Religious teaching often frames love as flowing from God: by giving love to God, one is empowered to act beyond self-interest for the benefit of others. Critics have noted that this framework can imply that moral goodness is dependent on recognition of God, suggesting that those who act ethically without belief may be seen as incomplete or misguided in their moral understanding. From a secular perspective, however, ethical behavior and genuine care for others do not require a divine reference.
