When people act in the name of God or wealth, they could be ultimately acting for themselves. You never can be sure if anybody who serves God really is as much about God as they seem.
Let us go further. You are the one who decides what good is and what is good for you. Thus wanting God or wealth will be about you mainly.
A God who thus trusts you with a message that he allows evil to happen for a good purpose is senseless. You are too much about you - and plus you belong to a species that routinely excuses or ignores grave harms. Few care about what animals suffer.
Human wrongdoing arises from limitations in intelligence, memory, and understanding, not from an inherent moral flaw. If a God existed, a being concerned with human well-being could have created us with intelligence, desires, and capacities aligned with good outcomes. To adore him when he has not, will corrupt us.
